Govind S. Gupta
Presentation Title:
Professor Govind S. Gupta is currently a professor at Indian Institute of Science and his research interests are in the broad area of modelling of chemical/metallurgical processes and fundamental study of solid, liquid, gas and powder interactions. He has worked on slag/metal emulsion, vacuum degassers, flow through porous media, heat treatment of steels, microwave heating, CO2 sequestration, Induction smelting, COREX, Midrex, etc. processes. His teaching interests are in the broad area of process engineering with an emphasis on mathematical modelling and computer simulation. He has published about 80 international journal papers, 6 international patents and 8 books/book chapters. His SiC production technology and gas carburising software for heat treatment have been commercialised. He was a visiting professor at The University of Queensland (twice) (Australia), Tohoku University (Japan), AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow (Poland) and State Univ. of Campinas (Brazil). He is a Member of Editorial board of International Journal of Engineering Systems Modelling and Simulation (IJESMS), UK. He has delivered many plenary/keynote/invited lecturers all over the world. He is a recipient of JSPS International Invitation Fellow (short term), Japan. He has also received Metallurgist of the Year Award from Government of India in 2005. He is a Fellow of Indian Institute of Metals (FIIM). He has taught many courses in Poland, India and Australia in his field of expertise and has offered various short term courses and an online course on Ironmaking. He has graduated 7 PhDs and 32 Master students.
